Equipment

  • airtight container
  • marker or pen
  • freezer bags
  • plastic wrap

Ingredients

  • Rice Pudding homemade or store-bought

Instructions

  • If you have homemade rice pudding, completely cool it before getting started.
  • Portion it out into the amounts you will need to use at each defrosting.
  • Spoon it into a freezer bag or an airtight container.
Note: to minimize air, use a container where the pudding is only a few inches from the lid. Additionally, you can add a single layer of plastic wrap over the pudding for extra protection.
  • Seal it up by putting the lid on the container, or by pressing any air from the bag and zipping it closed.
Note: if using a freezer bag, after zipping it shut, press it flat for easy storage.
  • Use a marker and put the date on the package, then toss it into the freezer.

Notes

Fresh:  it is important to freeze it when it is as fresh as possible.  If it is already starting to go bad, or on it's last day or so in the fridge, this will affect the quality when defrosted.
Cool: if it is homemade, you must totally cool it before packing it up.  Warm rice pudding will create condensation which will mess up the texture when thawed.
No air:  the less air in contact with the rice pudding while frozen the better.  So, press any air out of the freezer bag before closing it.  And fill any container within an inch or two from the top of the lid.
