If you are using homemade custard, make sure that it is totally cooled before getting started.
Portion the custard out into amounts that you will use when defrosted.
Spoon the custard into a freezer bag or an airtight container.Note: to decrease air, use a container that is sized so that only a few inches of space will be left between the custard and the lid. Additionally, you can add a layer of plastic wrap over the custard.
Seal up the package by putting the lid on the container. If using a freezer bag, push out all air before zipping it shut.Note: if using a freezer bag, once sealed, push the custard flat for easy storage.
Grab a marker and put the date on the package. Then, place it into the freezer.
Notes
Portion it: make sure that you figure out how much you will need at each defrosting and divy it up in those sizes.Fresh is the best: the fresher, the better so that you are freezing it at the maximum quality.Minimize air: the less air touching the custard while in the freezer, the better. Choose a container that only leaves a few inches between the top of the custard and the lid. Add a layer of plastic wrap on top of the custard, if using a container. If using a freezer bag, press any air out of it before zipping it shut.
