First, decide what size portions you will be using when defrosted and divide the cottage cheese up into these portions.
Scoop the cottage cheese into an airtight container or freezer bag.note: if using a container, size it so there is only around 1 - 2 inches of space between the cottage cheese and the lid.
Press the lid onto the top of the container. Or, zip the bag shut after pressing any air out of it.
Grab a marker and write the date on the bag or container.
Stick your package into the freezer.
Notes
Save space: using a freezer bag will save a lot of space in the freezer compared to a container. Additionally, to save more space, press the contents of the bag flat after zipping it shut.Use it in recipes: the texture of the cottage cheese is not the greatest when it is thawed. For this reason, it is best to use in recipes instead of eating on its own.Portion Control: portion it into the amounts you will be using when it is thawed. This way you only have to defrost what you need each time.
