How to Freeze Carrot Cake

Equipment

  • airtight container

Ingredients

  • Carrot Cake whole or sliced

Instructions

  • If you are making your own carrot cake, bake one up with your favorite receipe.
  • Decide if you will want the whole cake when defrosted or just a slice at a time.
  • If you have frosted your cake, you will need to flash freeze it. Place the cake whole or slices, in a single layer on a cookie sheet and pop it in the freezer for several hours. Until the frosting is stiff to touch.
  • Tear off a sheet of plastic wrap large enough to completely cover the piece of cake.
  • Sit the cake in the center of the plastic wrap and secure it around the cake.
  • Then, tear off a sheet of aluminum foil large enough to completely cover the piece of cake.
  • Sit the cake in the center of the aluminum foil and secure it around the cake.
  • Place the wrapped cake into a freezer bag or airtight container.
  • Press any excess air out of the bag and zip it shut. Or, if using a container, secure the lid on it.
  • Write the date on the container or bag and place it in the freezer.

Notes

To freeze cake batter:  skip the wrapping instructions, but follow the instructions for portioning and packaging in a bag or container.
Freeze it fresh: make sure to freeze as soon as possible so that it maintains maximum freshness.
